Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better

Many of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are terrible and should be avoided. However, if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nourishing and good for us to consume. There are several foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. When you feel a little down and need an emotional pick-me-up, try some of these.

Eggs, you might be astonished to find out, are wonderful at combating depression. Just be sure that you do not throw away the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be terrific for boosting your mood. This is because these vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try eating an egg and jolly up!

Make a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more serotonin you have, the happier you will feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you wish to combat depression. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can seriously raise your mood.

It’s not difficult to fight your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. It’s easy to feel low when you feel hungry! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are not hard to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is actually excellent for your mood. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this specific amino acid can basically induce brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you be healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood as well!

So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try some of these hints instead.
